Summary UNJUSTIFIED DISMISSAL – Serious misconduct - Inappropriate behaviour – Three investigations - First investigation into use of internal email system by applicant and another officer for the purpose of promoting an invitation to applicant’s father (a Kaumatua with Kaiwhakamana status with the prison service) to spiritually cleanse and re-bless the Te Ao Marama Unit at the Prison – As result of investigation applicant instructed to cease such activity – Second investigation into alleged telephone contact between applicant and inmate – Investigation revealed applicant had given phone numbers of herself and her father to inmate and that inappropriate direct telephone contact had occurred – Third investigation concerned allegation applicant attempted to coerce inmate into taking spiritual instructions against her wishes – Procedurally fair – Dismissal justified
